Praise for
The Strength in Knowing

“The Strength in Knowing is a heartfelt depiction of one man's journey to spiritual enlightenment and self-discovery. This book will be a wonderful read for those who are beginning to search for more meaning, love and direction in their lives. The author suggests several valuable and realistically attainable ways to begin one's path to a more fulfilling, joyful and God-centered journey on the physical plane.”

       Thomas S. Lipsitz, PhD

"The Strength in Knowing is truly inspirational reading, enriching and thought provoking. The world would be a dramatically better place if even a few of us would be guided by its powerful ideas. The busier you are, the more revelations you will find."

       Anthony S. Shen, M.D.

Cause and Effect

What, in the scope of reality, truly causes anything? What appears to be a cause of an event in most instances is not the sole cause, but it is, rather, the conceptual cause. Paradoxically in the true reality, there is no cause and effect and no duality. Nothing causes anything else; everything is an expression of its own essence and is self-existent. However, life as we know it is not the true reality but is rather a reality based on ego, duality, cause, and effect, and it is influenced by our perception and ego.

Integrity

Excerpt from "The Strength in Knowing"

Empirical knowledge is one of the critical ingredients of integrity, followed by truth, which is not necessarily moral, hence the evaluation of the truth. Empirical knowledge, coupled with the evaluation of truth for determination of its morality, equals factual righteousness and subsequently perpetuates integrity.

Alan

God Does Exist

I thought you might be interested in an excerpt from a treatise from Rene' Decartes':

Section 2 of my book "The Strength in Knowing', I discuss spirituality and how and why God must exist. In the following excerpt Decartes' explains how God must and does exist.

Descartes’ Meditations on First Philosophy

René Descartes’ Meditations on First Philosophy (1641) is a treatise which is dedicated to the Theology Faculty of the University of Paris. Descartes says that the treatise has two objectives: 1) to show that the soul is immortal and that God exists, and 2) to show that these assertions are truths which are logically necessary and which can be proved by reason.

Meditations on First Philosophy (1641) is a treatise which is dedicated to the Theology Faculty of the University of Paris.

Descartes argues that the idea of something which exists must be caused by something which exists. Something which exists cannot be caused by something which does not exist.  A thing or being must have some actual or formal existence in order to cause another thing or being to exist.

Book Review
Reviewed by Eduardo Aduna for Readers' Favorite

"The Strength in Knowing" by Alan Appt is an innovative and inspirational self-realization/help book which is based on his hindsight into his own personal life experiences. This refreshingly new take on all of the things that we allow to emotionally and intellectually plague us shows readers how to utilize their negative experiences to ...discover what is true. It helps readers discern what we want the most and then illustrates steps that can make those things a reality. The author shows us that fulfillment is not impossible to achieve and that happiness is not some unattainable goal as long as we do not stand in our own way, or allow others to do so.

This book was one amazing read! It holds the potential to be the remedy to all of the negative feelings that have been piling up inside the reader due to the stresses of daily life that we all occasionally succumb to. Every one who has had moments in their lives where everything just seems to go awry can find solace in Alan Appt's book. The fact that maybe it was my own actions and reaction to emotions that were causing all the negativity in my life was an eye opener. Appt has renewed my faith in the universe’s potential (as well as my own) and opened my eyes to many of the things that I have been too preoccupied to see for quite some time. It is a very thought provoking, very intellectually stimulating, and very emotionally moving book.

Introduction to "The Strength in Knowing"

Writing this book has been an unbelievable experience for me. I have been able to express so much I have held inside for so long. Some of what I discuss consists of personal firsthand examples from my own life. I wrote a large amount of the book from 10:00 in the evening until about 3:30 in the morning. I virtually always seem to have a deeper insight at this time and find the words flow much easier.

A key aspect of The Strength in Knowing is it enables the reader at virtually any age to recognize how short life is and understand the urgency in finding one’s own truths. Our origin and our destiny are subjects discussed for a comprehension of the self and our relation to others. Readers will gain a stronger awareness of how ego reduction can enable love, peace, and joy to surface. The ego, being the nemesis of our true fulfillment, can thus be redirected.

I strive to address any negative and environmental indoctrination, associations, and belief systems we may maintain and implement methods for improvement. The book emphasizes the importance of predominantly utilizing veracity, as opposed to perception, in our lives. It offers a deep insight into why bad things happen to good people and children. The book encourages meditation techniques for finding balance, sensitivity, knowledge and for manifesting our desires in life.

The Strength in Knowing helps us realize our capacity to recognize true romantic love in our lives, ultimately uncovering and addressing the existence of fallacious relationships. It also helps us to recognize the importance of addressing relevant plateaus regarding age in relation to our desires.

I present a brief explanation and evaluation of cause and effect, destiny, energy,  the time-space continuum, and the concept of time actually passing faster. I stress how essential it is for people to remain in the present and discuss how to avoid dwelling on negative aspects of the past. Helping you see how finding a path to realizing a higher level of consciousness is fundamental for true fulfillment. In addition, guiding you on the road to finding purpose, the meaning of existence, and ultimately, true happiness.

With peace,

I. Alan Appt

The Strength in Knowing is a personal, detailed narrative in obtaining true happiness and near ultimate awareness through an ongoing understanding of existence. In addition, the book, derived from Appt’s life experiences, offers an interpretation and depiction of a fresh, essential path to a heightened understanding of belief systems, love, peace, joy, and personal and spiritual development—as well as their application. This book is his quest to convey a learning experience that others can utilize in hopes of having a better understanding of their life and it is meaning, and that no one need fear existential questions. This understanding and higher level of consciousness, described in his book can be gained through techniques such as meditation and a self-observed mind, and a specific path conveyed by the author which can enrich lives and grant the peace that is essential to a fulfilled existence.

Appt believes his profound yet simple teachings in this book will interest many because of the honest, in-depth practical knowledge regarding life, purpose, and meaning. It tackles a subject that sparks everyone’s interest, written from personal experience in a language that is easy to absorb. He is ready to provide more of a contribution from his life than simply “being a good person.” Although his book satisfies this desire, it, more importantly, offers the reader something essential—a true and precise understanding of life, and the ability to attain true happiness.

When he was ten, he had philosophical thoughts about life. He became frightened of questions such as, “Where did I come from?” “Who am I?” and “Where am I going?” He tried desperately to ignore them. He finally realized, with the help of age and study, that he was not being plagued with this philosophy, but rather finding an understanding of life. In addition, to discovering a unique awareness of the Universe, he has undergone many spiritual events, including a vision of Jesus and an out-of-body experience. It is important now that he conveys to others what he has learned.

I. Alan Appt currently resides in mid-west. He lives with his wife Pam, Murphy the very lovable cat, and Dolly the vocal yellow nape Amazon parrot. He has two adult children a girl and boy and one grandchild.  Appt is an accomplished Impressionistic Artist in the medium of oil with the sole use of palette knives, and has frequent Art shows. He is a licensed United States Coast Guard Captain, retired, owned and operated a sailing charter business for six years on the west coast of Florida. Sailing the Caribbean has added another significant piece of awareness in itself to his life. Over the past two decades, he has taught and practiced intense meditation on a daily basis. He is proficient and Master in and has taught Universal Energy (UE) for (Healing) studying under Master Luong Minh Dang as well as Kinesiology a muscle testing process.. He is a spiritual counselor, motivational speaker and an Ordained Interfaith Minister.

With peace,

I. Alan Appt
